In June of 2002, this lottery game was started by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for the purpose of combating a wide range of fraud schemes and illegal operations both in Visayas and Mindanao.

Originally, this game was only offered within Visayas and Mindanao regions. However, because of its tremendous success, the PCSO made an executive decision to finally expand this lottery game to Luzon in 2006.

The PCSO was set up in the year 1934. Today, the PCSO portfolio is comprised of the Swertres 3D Lotto, along with 6 58 Lotto, 6 55 Lotto, 6 49 Lotto, 6 45 Lotto, 6 42 Lotto, 6D Lotto, 4D Lotto, and EZ2 Lotto.
